Thank you for your interest in our Graduate and Online Programs. For those seeking such standards, we offer two graduate education programs, as well as, an alternative Bachelor of Education program. All of our courses and majors have as their intellectual foundation a Christian world and life view. Offered to students who hold non-educational undergraduate degrees and want to pursue the alternate route license at the graduate level, or who currently hold an alternate license and desire a master’s degree and standard certification. MAT graduates can teach in the elementary setting, grades 4 through 8, or in the secondary setting, grades 7 through 12. Admission requirements are as follows:
- Completed application for admission
- $25 application fee – online payment form
- Or if you prefer not to fill out the application online, you can
download it and mail/fax it in: application for admission
- Baccalaureate (undergraduate) degree from a regionally
accredited institution of higher learning
- Official transcripts from ALL colleges attended – Transcript Request Form
- GPA of 2.8 or higher on one of the following: Cumulative
from undergraduate/graduate degree granting institution or cumulative on last
60 hours of undergraduate work
- Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) scores (scores
on all subtests must meet Mississippi licensure requirements). See PraxisTest Information.
- Praxis II Specialty Area Test score (score in content area
must meet Mississippi licensure requirement)
- A
letter to the Dean and two recommendation forms may be submitted voluntarily by the student or may be requested by the admission office if student does not meet minimum requirements
for acceptance.
- Apply for Federal Assistance by filing the Free Application for Federal Assistance (FAFSA) on the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

The Master of Education
Offered to students who hold an undergraduate degree in education or have completed a teacher preparation program, the MEd focuses on the core foundation of the educational profession – teaching and learning. Students can choose between an emphasis in elementary education or in secondary education. Belhaven faculty assists teachers in expanding their knowledge base, enhancing instructional practice, incorporating technology, and integrating ethical principals. Admission requirements are as follows:
- Completed application for admission
- $25 application fee – online payment form
- Or if you prefer not to fill out the application online, you can
download it and mail/fax it in: application for admission
- Baccalaureate (undergraduate) degree from a regionally
accredited institution of higher learning
- Official transcripts from ALL colleges attended – Transcript Request Form
- GPA of 2.8 or higher on one of the following: Cumulative
from undergraduate/graduate degree granting institution or cumulative on last
60 hours of undergraduate work
- Evidence of holding or being eligible to hold a Class A
license in the area of emphasis for which the student is seeking degree
- A
letter to the Dean and two recommendation forms may be submitted voluntarily by the student or may be requested by the admission office if student does not meet minimum requirements

PACE Program for Teaching Assistants:
The PACE program allows you to enroll as a full-time student while maintaining your teacher assistant position. Designed specifically for Teachers Assistants, PACE enables you to complete 12 hours of teacher education credit in one semester at night while working as a Teachers Assistant during the day. Admission requirements are as follows:
- Completed application for admission
- $25 application fee – online payment form
- A minimum of 44 credit hours of the core general education requirements as specified by the PACE program curriculum.
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA in undergraduate course work
- Official test Scores. (Either, ACT of 21 or higher (no sub-score lower than 18), or SAT of 860 combined math and reading, or Praxis I passing scores according to the state of Mississippi standards.)
- Download the Transcript Request Form for all colleges attended
- Letter of Employment as a Teacher’s Assistant from your school principal or district office.
- Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) scores (scores
on all subtests must meet Mississippi licensure requirements). P.A.C.E. students do not take the Praxis II Subject Assessment Test for admission requirements to the P.A.C.E. program. See PraxisTest Information.
- Apply for Federal Assistance by filing the Free Application for Federal Assistance (FAFSA) on the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Non-Degree Students
Students who are in need of classes for licensure renewal or
for alternate route licensure that leads to Class A licensure can enroll as
non-degree seeking students in the Graduate Teacher Education Program.
